On January 27th, we’ll be playing our first show of the new year with our super awesome Minneapolis pals, Zoo Animal and Tarlton. They are both some of the nicest people in the entire world. They both also make some of the best music in the entire world.

hey everyone! thanks for coming out last night to our last show for the year. we did a short acoustic set at SHoP in Hyde Park, played a bunch of new songs, and it was definitely super fun. a totally awesome band called zamin played after us, please go listen to them. they’re so good.

also, thanks to everyone for coming out to all shows this year. we played with so many great bands in some of our favorite venues.

quick plug: if you’re around on december 22nd, please go see our label buddies, the island of misfit toys, at lincoln hall. the lineup is beyond killer - santah, in tall buildings, and elephant gun are also playing. fb event here!

Guys. Look at this gif. So good.

Unrelated (except kind of), Megan and Sam are playing a special acoustic show in Minneapolis on November 26th! You should all come.

It’s at Nick and Eddie and it’s 21+. Doors are at 9pm. And Night Moves are headlining! We couldn’t be more thrilled about that. And the totally awesome Mpls band, The Half Hearts are opening. All around awesomness.

Old songs, new songs, covers, and one cover song in particular (note: that you will only hear performed by us this one time) will be played.

Hey guys!

Megan from Project Film here! We’re in Denver today taking in some relaxation time before a few more days of intense driving on the tail end of our west coast tour. This morning the boys slept in, but I got up so I have the privilege of using my extra time to write you this tour blog! Currently sitting in a cute coffeeshop called St. Marks.

Last night we played in Fort Collins, CO at a sweet DIY space. They use empty storefronts for music and arts programming. We played in this big reverb-y room and listeners came and went all night. It was a really cool and different vibe and we were able to try out some new covers we’ll be doing for you all at our next shows (hint hint: one is a very unconventional version of a conventional song – it’s sweet). Fort Collins is a cute town, with great independent establishments and a ton of local breweries. I recommend making a stop there next time you’re in the CO.

The night before we played Provo, UT in an all ages space that was similarly cool. We also ate Diary Queen.

Before that was San Francisco – our best show of the tour so far. Kimo’s was a sweet venue and we stayed at our drummer Dylan’s uncle’s beautiful house on top of an intense hill. Parking was scary – the car felt like it would roll over. We drove down Lombard Street late after our show which was pretty epic. And then proceeded to sleep for three hours before leaving for Utah.

The drives have been pretty amazing the whole way. On the way down to San Fran from Portland, we took the coastal route and spotted tons of seals, pelicans, and beautiful ocean views. We had some clam chowder. We went to Amoeba Records in San Fran (did we mention Jackpot Records and Everyday Music in Portland? If not, they were great). The San Fran to Utah drive had the great salt desert, which none of us even knew existed. It was probably what it feels like to be on Mars. Except salty. Surreal either way.

Excited to get play in Denver tonight and Des Moines tomorrow. And also really excited to get back to our little hometown of Chicago. We miss you all and can’t wait to see you at the Whistler on August 14, where we play with the superb local band Nelken. It will be ah-mazing. And previously mentioned cover will be pulled out in full force. As will our new tour-backed musical skillz.

tour blog! we're in portland.

yo peoples. we’re in portland right now with a few days off. here’s a tour blog.

we played minneapolis last sunday and it was totally a blast. the venue was great, and everyone who came out was super nice. it was also, literally, the hottest, most uncomfortable temperature on the planet. our glasses would continually fog each time we stepped outside.

then. we drove. forever. to montana! yay montana! we survived north dakota and made it to a little western city in montana called butte. because we didn’t know anyone in montana, we made an attempt at camping on this mountain (#bandlife). after driving down the scariest/darkest road of our lives, and encountering a ridiculous amount of freely roaming cows (?), we approached the campground entrance only to find it was closed for LITERALLY THE ONLY HOURS WE NEEDED TO STAY THERE for pesticide spraying. so, instead, we decided to set up camp at a trail head in the parking lot.

on tuesday, we made it to seattle (through so many mountains, dear god) with enough time to get dinner at this awesome sandwich place called royal grinders. actually, backtrack: going through spokane, wa we may or may not have made a stop at ihop. i got these crazy good pancakes with cinnamon role filling in between each pancake and then icing drizzled on top. it was heavenly. back to seattle: we played at a venue called the high dive. the bar manager was one of the nicest people we have met all trip. so nice. the other bands were super nice as well. the next morning we went to this awesome coffee shop called diva espresso. i had an iced americano. everyone made fun of me for getting something iced on a somewhat chilly day. then we headed over to the famous sonic boom records. i can’t say enough great things about sonic boom. so well organized. and they have everything. i got rise above by the dirty projectors, underneath the pine by toro y moi, among others. great records.

on our way to portland, we decided to take a much more scenic route and drive the coast. SO beautiful. we passed about eight billion little espresso huts. basically the best thing of my life. in portland, we played at a venue called the ella st. social club. again, everyone was crazy nice and super chill (like the pop). both groups that played with us were amazingly nice and talented people. their sets were excellent.

the next day we walked around downtown and looked at cool things. we did some thrift shopping and coffee drinking. i highly recommend stumptown coffee. so good. we also went to voodoo doughnut, which if you’ve never experienced, dear god, experience now.

i got two: 1) a raised doughnut with oreos on top, and also an old fashioned glazed doughnut with chocolate frosting and cocoa puffs. sam-win.

yesterday we drove down to salem to visit our drummer, dylan, who has some family there in town for a wedding. we rode some horses and played with some llamas. llamas are seriously some of the coolest animals on the face of the earth. we went downtown and had lunch at this awesome, and supposedly famous restaurant called casey’s cafe, and got coffee at the governor’s cup. that night we drove back into portland to see one of our favorite mpls musicians, jeremy messersmith, perform at mississippi studios. his set was amazing as always, as were the other bands who opened. also, mississippi studios is officially one of my new favorite venues. the sound and atmosphere are both excellent.

today, we went back to voodoo doughnut and all got haircuts. now we’re watching purple rain.
